Upper School
Walker Barrett will teach Upper School Spanish and serve as assistant coach for the golf team. Over the past few years, Walker has subbed at both St. Andrew’s and Jackson Prep, while also serving as a translator and interpreter for local firms. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas – Pan American, where he also played on their Division I golf team.
Abby Condit will teach Upper School math. As a member of the Mississippi Teacher Corps 2016 Cohort, she taught middle school math in Mt. Pleasant, MS. Abby studied abroad at the University of Oxford. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics and business from Hendrix College and a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi.
Patricia Martin will teach Upper School math. She has over 20 years of experience in education including math department chair at Hargrave Military Academy in VA and The Miller School in VA, Assistant to the Dean of Students at the University of Texas, elementary principal at Horizon Montessori in TX, and math teacher at Stuart Hall School in VA. She was named the 2015-16 High School Educator of the Year by the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics secondary education at Mary Baldwin College and a Master of Education in administration and principal certification from Sam Houston State University.
Emily Philpott will teach Upper School history. She has over 16 years of experience as a teacher in both public and private schools, including serving as the history and religion department chair at St. George’s Independent School in TN. Emily has served as an AP reader for the College Board and on the College Board AP World History Setting Panel. She taught middle school English classes in Bologna, Italy as part of a European Studies Program through Dickinson College. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in history and her Master of Teaching in secondary social studies education from the University of Virginia.
Emmi Sprayberry will join the Upper School as the visual arts teacher. Her work experience includes account executive at A+ Signs and Creative and art gallery coordinator and general manager at Deep South Pops. She has taught photography at Belhaven University and is owner of the Bee’s Knees Photography. Her photography and mixed media have been exhibited in multiple galleries. Emmi earned her Bachelor of Arts in visual art from Belhaven University.
